The editorial and graphic design of Maxiplotte was carried out by Jean-Christophe Menu, Julie Doucet’s first publisher in France and co-founder of L’Association, in close collaboration with the Quebec author. A true panorama of the evolution of her work, Maxiplotte gathers works realized during her twelve years of activity as a comic book author. The work is at once subversive, feminist and whimsical. Julie Doucet evokes crudely and humorously the life of the body – from menstruation to sexual desire to boogers – gender stereotypes, her experiences as a young woman, not to mention her dream life, which she relates abundantly. In black and white, the stories blossom in meticulously elaborated settings, populated by characters as unusual as they are endearing.

This 400-page anthology includes, in addition to all the stories from the collections Ciboire de Criss ! (L’Association, 1996), ), Monkey and the Living Dead (L’Association, 1999), both out of print, and a few stories from Changements d’adresses (L’Association, 1998), notebook pages from her diary at the turn of the 80s and 90s, as well as reproductions of the covers of the legendary Dirty Plotte, of various fanzines and international editions. More than 200 pages of unpublished material, including nearly 40 in color. In addition, there is an introduction by Jean-Christophe Menu, as well as the transcript of a fascinating interview of Julie Doucet with the journalist specialist of comics Christian Gasser. Unquestionably, Maxiplotte is one of the reference books of the alternative comics of these last thirty years
