She spent most of her budget on a car, the rest on our flights, and four of us piled into this car and just drove from Houston to Austin. We followed the Llano River, stayed at a hotel that Bonnie and Clyde had once stayed at, and ended up in a dusty, sketchy little town right on the Mexican border. Corinne's friend Susie Babchick is from Texas and she helped organize everything. Rosemary Ferguson was the model chosen because she was so laid back and easygoing. And Corinne asked me to come along and help her.\r\n \\n \r\n\\nMy role was very vague. I wasn't there to be a model or a photographer's assistant as such, but I was going to be in the photos and help. They wanted me to drive, and thought I would be fine if the car broke down. Corinne took her own photos, with her own vision of the journey. But my book is about women together, having an adventure. We didn't have phones with us, we just felt very free, and untraceable. No one knew where we were.\r\n \\n \r\n\\nIt's the story of four women, on a trip, who do some pretty dangerous things at times, but mostly they make a mess. Nobody fell, nobody got hurt, there was no disaster, and they don't die at the end like Thelma and Louise. They just have a lot of fun! Of course, there was also Texas: gun culture and cars. We ended up at this place where there was a car parade and I got in the back of a car with these Chicanos called Los Magnificos. It could have been risky, I guess, but they were very proper with me, and so proud of their car! I was mostly interested in memorizing what was happening and how we felt. The three girls really relaxed through my eyes. There's one photo in particular where two of them are lying on the beach, naked, and there's no awkwardness there, no traditional 'sexualizing' male gaze.","brand":"VINCA PETERSEN","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":49796214456629,"sku":"1000000004892","price":60.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0870\/9023\/3653\/files\/Screen-Shot-2018-10-08-at-17.23.32.jpg?v=1772896444"},{"product_id":"baroness","title":"Baroness","description":"Calling the shots from beneath her Versace satin sheets, BARONESS is back for the holiday season with her scintillating book BARONESS by Sarah Baker and a VERY new guest editor, DONATELLA VERSACE.\n\n \n\nThe second instalment of BARONESS visits the world of romantic novels with a photographic storybook penned and visualised by the performance artist Sarah Baker.\n\nFollowing the lives of five outrageous characters as they navigate tumultuous affairs, the story begins when American music mogul Angelina Marina, played by Baker, receives an unwanted holiday gift, inadvertently opening a sordid, seasonal tale of tangled lives and treachery. Everything is at stake—Angelina’s freedom, the loyalty of her daughter, her friendship with The Baroness, and—worst of all—the royalties from her hit single, ‘Spritz Me with Your Love’.\n\n \n\nPowerful women in popular culture are often depicted as ‘bitches,’ using everything at their disposal to get their way. Baker, however, subverts this tired narrative and creates a story in which the central female characters work collaboratively to deal with blackmail and deceit.\n\n \n\nThere are no cat fights here.\n\n \n\nWith a blockbuster cast, BARONESS by Sarah Baker stars supermodel Helena Christensen as The Baroness, as well as Simonas Pham, Jonathan Saxby and Meghan Roche.\n\n \n\nBARONESS also introduces the Art Director Stephen Male who has collaborated with Baker to present this new work in book form, inspired by the graphics and layouts of romantic novels. The book also presents Allegra V. Beck as special guest Fashion Director and a handwritten foreword by Donatella Versace. Shore met with steelworkers who had been thrown out of work by factory closures and photographed their suddenly fragile world: deserted factories, lonely bars, dwindling strip malls, and ornately decorated homes. In these images, we see a prosperous middle America teetering on the precipice of disastrous decline. Hope and despair lurk endlessly behind the surfaces of storefronts, domestic interiors, and the strained expressions of those who face Shore’s 4x5 vision camera. Originally commissioned as an extended photo essay for Fortune Magazine in the vein of Walker Evans, Shore’s multifaceted investigation has only gained political prominence in the years since. Shore’s subjects—including workers, union leaders, and family members—had voted for Jimmy Carter the year before his visit; now he found them disillusioned with the new president, doomed to leave the Democratic Party behind and become “Reagan Democrats.” Through consistently captivating images from one of the world’s acknowledged masters, Steel Town offers an immersive portrait of a time and place whose significance for our own is increasingly urgent. \r\n\\n\r\n \\nWith text by Helen C. Appointed Joel and Anne Ehrenkranz Chief Curator of Photography at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York in 2020,Chéroux takes on a variety of topics, from the history of vernacular photography to the influence of documentary photography on Surrealism. These texts, newly translated into English and published together in one volume for the first time, reflect the breadth of Chéroux’s thinking, the rigor of his approach, and his endless curiosity about photographs.\n\nIn this strikingly designed and generously illustrated volume, Chéroux presents unique case studies and untold stories. He discusses ways of sharing images, from the nineteenth century to the digital age; considers the utopian ideals of early photography; and analyzes the duality of amateur photography. Among other things, he describes the appeal of photographs snapped from a speeding train and explains historical value of first-generation prints of photographs. Through an analysis of key photographs taken on 9\/11, Chéroux shows that the same six images were seen again and again in the press.
