Shelter is a charged, dense word. It applies to many situations, some more dramatic, painful, tragic than others. A shelter can be needed for survival. Following a disaster. It can be a political asylum, a revendication. It can be a mental or physical health requirement. Or it can be for fresh air. Or all of the above.

We have a habit of idealizing the elsewhere, its time and place. For instance, I compile lists of ideal groceries, places, books, flowers, and so on. Antoine’s drawings revolve around the idea of nostalgia, simpler times, like a childhood spent running in the fields. This habit gained importance at the beginning of the Covid-19 sanitary crisis, from March to June 2020, that had us stay at home.

We asked ourselves a few questions while working: why seek shelter? Which one are we portraying? Are we idealizing it? Are we idealizing it? Yes we are. Do you need an external shelter if your body is one? Many social interactions rely on the perception of the other’s body, and more people witness everyday the struggle it is to make the mind remember the body can be a shelter. The questions don’t stop here. There are plenty, new ones every second.

But we will be walking you through our comfort shelter here. If you want, you could make your own too. Please, make yourself at home. Talion Edition.
