Ben N'Kante, 17, is in his final year of high school when two police officers come
pick him up and take him directly to Fleury-Mérogis prison where he is
incarcerated in the juvenile ward. He does not know then that he will stay there
the whole of the following year until he turned 18. His life then changed. When he arrived,
Ben is a high school student like so many others "outside". A good student, he goes
every morning at the prison school center with the firm intention of
pass his baccalaureate. He is cooperative with the protection mediator
juvenile justice and prison administration. It is only necessary
a few months of detention and the prospect of an imminent release
who walks away so that Ben's behavior deteriorates. He, the prisoner
copy no longer goes to class or almost, fights, insults
supervisors... He, the young man so well-groomed, neglects himself: the haircut,
clothes, nothing matters anymore! What's the point! Isabelle Dautresme,
a journalist specializing in education issues, and Bast, who hosted a
comic strip workshop in a juvenile detention area, wanted to show the
harmful effects of imprisonment on these young people whose future is blocked from
