Asnam

In the ASNAM book, the gradual acceleration of the monumentalization of faith in public space in Lebanon and at a Mediterranean scale is a central question. The book focuses on the origins of how the representation of faith and its implications in the public sphere are interconnected with political and social issues. It is also a meditation on a confrontation between the sacred and the profane, on the rupture between private and public space, citizen and foreigner, and on the re-appropriation of statues by political and religious interests. L'œuvre ASNAM a été réalisée sur une période de seize ans, au cours de sept courts séjours au Liban entre 2009 et 2025. Au fil des ans, il s'est enrichi grâce à des recherches, des publications et des collaborations, aboutissant à un ensemble d'œuvres qu'on est fier de présenter enfin dans un livre. ASNAM comprend des photographies et notes de Georges Salameh, une nouvelle du romancier Oliver Rohe et une postface de la curatrice Natasha Christia. Le design du livre a été réalisé par Stefania Orfanidou (CHORA ATELIER). Il est publié en français, en anglais et en arabe. Il a également bénéficié du soutien de l'AFAC (Fonds arabe pour les arts et la culture).
