Lost In Transit
Lost In Transit
Lost In Transit is a photographic study of Mumbai’s taxis and the subculture of the city’s taximen.
The book is built around a consistent visual decision: every photograph is taken from the back seat of a kaalipeeli taxi. This point of view, the rider’s, offered the most intimate frame. From here, I could observe how each cab reflected the driver’s personality, fabric choices, ceiling prints, shrines, trinkets, etc. These weren’t just taxis, they were moving rooms, layered with
clues to someone’s daily life.
