Alexandre Estrela: Métal Hurlant
Alexandre Estrela: Métal Hurlant
Matter is on the verge of disappearing, suffocated by the predominance of
digital images that grow exponentially to become larger
than nature, "like a velvet glove cast in steel." This monograph holds
toolbox location, dedicated to the posthumous reconstruction of art objects,
know the works of the artist Alexandre Estrela. These have been assembled
to constitute Métal Hurlant, the last exhibition organized at the delegation
from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Paris.
The texts of Sergio Mah, Sophie Cavoulacos, Miguel Magalhães, François Piron,
Joël Vacheron and Marco Bene are the result of studies covering the whole of
Estrela's work. They play the role of a tour guide exploring the
different facets of the concept of metal, its visual and sound properties
and haptic to the psychic and physiological impacts of the discordances of
his perception.
Published on the occasion of the eponymous exhibition at the Calouste-Gulbenkian Foundation,
Paris, from March 13 to June 16, 2019.
Since the mid-1990s, Alexandre Estrela (born 1971 in Lisbon)

questions the relationships between theme and image.
