  • Built on a limestone plateau, in a fertile plain, the city of Beaucaire is crossed by the Rhône. Former quarry having once served as the construction of a largely destroyed medieval castle, it fuels Today a cement factory, an incinerator. There is an old track there Roman, a canal and a marina, an industrial area. A city center abandoned, aging low-rent apartment buildings, areas recent suburban housing. A population, inhabitants, groups of individuals constituted, a centripetal movement. This documentary story makes this city an inhabited place. Who are its inhabitants? What are their lives made of? do they cross paths, and if so, in what places? How are they linked? During For several months, Alexandre Dimos traveled through this city in the company of the photographer Stéphanie Lacombe to try to grasp the mechanisms and the dynamic. Beaucaire is the name of this city in movement and tension, where fears and fantasies, hopes and drying up of imaginations, multiplicities and differences stretch the social bond. Two points of view intersect and attempt, by each describing this place in their own way, to question its modes of life. Made up of around 200 photographs, this story also unfolds in thread of a text written by Alexandre Dimos. This project was the winner of the commission public New Worlds, at the initiative of the Ministry of Culture.
