Bradley à Bradley
Bradley à Bradley
A tall, pale, bald guy with oversized sunglasses runs into
the desert. It is not just any desert, but the one in Nevada, where it is located
Las Vegas. The runner, whose real name might be Murray, but we don't
are not sure, is prey to the illusion of being the actor Bradley Cooper
preparing to star in a Lance Armstrong biopic. (Or maybe it's
(really Bradley Cooper, although no one recognizes him). He opted for a
very strict running training as a preparation technique.
At the beginning of the story, he writes a long letter to Robert De Niro, from actor to actor.
At another point, he imagines himself accepting an Oscar for the role. Between
training in the desert and imaginary discussions with members of
Hollywood elite, the runner wanders through Vegas casinos and gambles
intensely at the slot machines... Bradley on Bradley is the 200th title of the
editions here and there and it is a real tour de force. The Canadian author
virtuoso Connor Willumsen shows impressive graphic mastery, in
a story mixing reality and imagination with Las Vegas as a backdrop,
symbol of a society devoured by consumerism,
fascination with celebrities and ultra capitalism.
