Living cinema
Living cinema
For this work, Érik Bullot drew inspiration from notes and fragments on the
the future of the cinema of the poet Saint-Pol-Roux (1861-1940), written in the years
1930, collected and published by Gérard Macé in 1972 under the title Cinéma vivant.
Erik Bullot's work is composed of three parts: a main essay on the
mental and imaginary cinema in twenty-four images; a portfolio of 12 images
produced by AI and a short essay on anti-cinema. The author takes his
reader with great finesse of the prehistory of the seventh art (Daguerre) to
its history (Light), to end with a proposal for a post-history of the
cinema. By inserting the series of twelve photographs, produced in 2024
With generative artificial intelligence, Erik Bullot aims to illustrate
the visionary program of Saint-Pol-Roux and thus opens a dialogue between the
generations and techniques. A certain topicality in 2025 will allow
to accompany the release of the book. In January, an exhibition will open
personal, kaleidoscope journeys, from the artist to the contemporary art center
Le Tanneries, Amilly, where his series of photographs generated by
artificial intelligence. This series will also be shown in
the exhibition, The World According to AI, at the Jeu de Paume from April 11 to September 21
2025.
