Forgotten Architecture
Forgotten Architecture
Forgotten Architecture was founded as a Facebook group on May 28, 2019,
in order to share, in a virtual space, forgotten or hidden projects in
Europe and the rest of the world. The idea behind Forgotten Architecture is
simple: recover projects by little-known architects and works left behind
in the shadow of the masters (like the house designed for Arnaldo Pomodoro by
Ettore Sottsass and the avant-garde "Binishell" of Dante Bini), dive
in the work of “minor” figures, and bring together alternative perspectives on
the history of architecture as a complement to university courses.
Forgotten Architecture becomes a book, while retaining its characteristics
collective, dynamic and horizontal experience, born on a social network.
Ephemeral architecture, gas stations, nightclubs, holiday centers,
houses and playgrounds: the publication uses the categories
architectural themes most frequently presented in the group as themes
directors, providing for each project a collection of material
photographic, documents and drawings from companies
professional, private archives and institutions (Fornasetti, Gaetano
Pesce, Nanda Vigo, Vitra...).
