The Artist and Politics collects two essays by Virginia Woolf: “Why
"Art Follows Politics Today" (1936) and "The Leaning Tower" (1940). These
Two essays are written in a troubled context, Virginia Woolf rethinks the
creation and writing in a Europe in full upheaval. "The tower
"leaning" stands out as one of the most important theoretical texts of
Virginia Woolf insofar as she offers a biting deconstruction of the
masculinity and in particular the way in which the
English intellectuals until the eve of the Second World War.
