THE HACKNEY ARCHIVES
Neil Martinson, a lifelong Hackney resident, was still at school
when he started taking pictures on his land, documenting the people
at work, children at play, demonstrations, homeless people, life
Jewish, street markets and other scenes. Its documentary archives give
life in a bygone era and show how the professional life of
Hackney - and the world - has changed in the digital age. "I grew up in a
time when many people did manual work. There was a huge
