\nTracing a career spanning more than thirty years, this celebration of the
talented Dutch photographer includes brightly colored portraits,
landscapes, still lifes, abstract compositions and editorials
fashion. \n \nFrom his early African-inspired work to his experiences
most recent in interventionist techniques, Viviane Sassen has acquired
internationally renowned for its striking and dynamic images that
explore a range of themes and topics – from identity, gender and
body, running, fashion and the environment. \n \nThis retrospective book
brings together well-known and lesser-known works and includes pieces from his
recent series, Paint Studies, in which the first photographs are
reimagined with ink and painterly marks, and Venus and Mercury, a
collection of exquisite photomontages based on the history of the castle of
Versailles. \n \nAn introductory essay and an interview with the artist
combine with additional illuminating texts to make the panorama
definitive work of an important and constantly evolving photographer.
