Will Write Soon - The book Will Write Soon presents a collection of "real
photo postcards » also called photographic cards. These images are halfway
between the photograph and the postcard are original prints whose
back allows for a stamp and address to be affixed. From 1907, the back
allows you to write some words that were previously written directly on
the image. We discover photographs taken on the spot, often made by
amateurs, faces of a rural North America not always knowing
where their portrait would travel. This practice is experiencing real enthusiasm among
1905 and 1915 thanks to the development of more compact cameras by Kodak
and easier to use, but also by modernizing the post office
American company promoting the circulation of mail throughout the country. Will Write
Soon is based on the collection of photographic cards compiled by the
collector and author David Thomson. The book accompanies the exhibition of
same name visible until June 16, 2024 at the Gwinzegal Art Center in Guingamp
(France).
