BLOB is a book and exhibition project by Eddy Frankel. It’s a vile, miserable short story about a man whose bones are disintegrating, published with newly commissioned art by Rachel Howard, Olivia Sterling, Mary Ramsden, Shadi Al-Atallah, Glen Pudvine, France-Lise McGurn, Emma Cousin, Gareth Cadwallader and Luke Burton.

Eddy, editor of Time Out’s art and culture section, contacted a group of artists he liked and asked them if they would be willing to make a work in response to the story he had written. Was he nervous about sending all these incredible painters what is essentially an incredibly depressing wank joke? Yes we are. But somehow, they all said yes, and produced amazing paintings and drawings to accompany the story.

BLOB is at once a fiction, an art catalog and a curatorial project. It deals with depression, aging, anxiety, body dysmorphia and erections, but in a rather amusing way?
