Chill – The consumption of music to relax is now a pervasive phenomenon.
The channels or playlists dedicated to it gather millions of listeners.
But behind its apparent simplicity, “chill” is now associated with the recontextualization of a myriad of musical styles – lo-fi hip-hop, easy-listening, cloud rap, ambient – and as many emotional nuances.
This collection crosses our sound culture to hear the contradictory currents which make pass from relaxation to escape, from detachment to melancholy.
