Dan Mitchell: Posters – The first comprehensive collection of posters and flyers by the British artist.
Dan Mitchell designs subversive, socially critical and humorous posters to promote his own exhibitions and those of fellow artists, and to serve as a critical commentary on everyday events. While continuing the age-old tradition of poster art, he explores contemporary approaches involving prints of various sizes and even digital posters. The book is complemented by a conversation between the artist and Swiss curators Fredi Fischli and Niels Olsen.
Dan Mitchell (b. 1966) is a London-based artist who has exhibited widely outside traditional galleries. He is a founding member of Poster Studio (1994-1997) and the editor of Hard Mag magazine. His work is computer-generated and takes the form of an assemblage of selected images (from the web, magazines, posters, films and photographs), reproduced as posters, magazines, drawings as well as prints and sculptures.
