Flashpoint! Protest Photography in Print, 1950-Present – The past 75 years have seen extreme social and cultural transformations worldwide. We live in a world rife with ideological and tribal conflicts, where political and social upheaval, often contentious, disorienting, and polarising, is now a daily reality. Since its inception, photography has been both a tool and a document of these struggles. Structured thematically, this anthology presents a global selection of photobooks, zines, posters, pamphlets, independent journals, and alternative newspapers that address resistance from 1950 to the present. It explores the diverse roles and varying aesthetics that photography in print undertakes in its support of protest and resistance. Surveying more than 245 photography in print assets, Flashpoint! is structured thematically into seven broad chapters: Anti, Gender, Displacement, Race & Class, Environment, Political and War & Violence.
