Gee’s Bend: Get Ready, A Quilt Print Jigsaw Puzzle

Get Ready is a beautiful 1,000-piece puzzle featuring a colorful, intricately patterned quilt by artist Mary Lee Bendolph, matriarch of the historic quilting community of Gee’s Bend, Alabama, and published by Paulson Fontaine Press in Berkeley, California.

This is the first puzzle featuring a print of one of the legendary Gee’s Bend quilts, hands-on works of art created by the descendants of former slaves who settled in the rural community of Gee’s Bend, Alabama. The quilters have developed a distinctive geometric aesthetic that gives the quilts the look of abstract expressionist paintings while retaining the friendliness, comfort and country flavor of the traditional quilt. The inventive, improvisational designs of these quilts and the stories of their creators have captivated a wide audience of contemporary art lovers, quilters, folk art enthusiasts and American history buffs.

Get Ready was created by matriarch Mary Lee Bendolph, who is descended from generations of quilt makers in Gee’s Bend, Alabama.
