Androids have invaded everyday life, all over the world, everywhere, except on the very conservative Japanese island of Kino, which is resisting modernity and new technologies to reproduce a Japan from the end of the 20th century, kept under a glass cloche. In this ideal enclave of a vanished world, Hélène and Edo, husband and wife, have lived happily together for many years. But while time stands still in Kino, it is beginning to play tricks on the couple. A renowned pianist, Hélène’s position in the philharmonic orchestra has been threatened by the arrival of a younger, more talented musician. For his part, Edo feels that his desire for his wife is gradually waning. So Hélène decides to bring into their home a robot, a perfect clone of her when she was young, programmed to satisfy the desires of its owners. But when the laws of men, love and time are broken, the price can be high…
