Kootenays

Kootenays – Sean is an old man who lives in the Canadian Rockies, in a small mountainside village by the water in the Kootenays, a region named after the Kutenai First Nations people of southern Canada. Sean lives simply and consciously to the rhythm of nature, consuming little and enjoying the beauty of the place every day. Daily chores punctuate his winter days. Far from the artificial pleasures of industrial civilization, Sean cultivates his own asceticism, based on “happy sobriety”. Ignoring the rules of our new world, his traditional lifestyle remains far healthier and more modern than most of his contemporaries who are trying to find a way to heal themselves.
