La Typographie Post-Binaire Au-Delà De L’écriture Inclusive – How can we overcome the gender binarity characteristic of the French language? This book looks back at the emergence of inclusive and non-binary writing, and outlines the beginnings of a post-binary approach to typography. Recalling the political significance of type design, Camille Circlude shows how the field of typographic design now offers an unprecedented space for writing to embrace the vast prism of genres, beyond binarity.

Typography is thus seen as an emancipating technology, enabling us to resist hegemony and embrace the hybridization of forms. Today, it offers the possibility of materializing queer, non-binary, genderfluid, agender and genderfuck existences in the shared, symbolic spaces of language and writing. By mobilizing the concept of political post-binarism, the author, a founding member of the Bye Bye Binary collective, invites us to adopt a political stance that enables the affirmation of new self-affirmations. Here, Camille Circlude takes stock of six years of experimentation (2017-2023) with a practice that continues to spread, and continues to be written in the present tense.
