The first issue of the Cahiers du center national du graphisme, on the theme of the relationship between graphic design and feminism, where it is a question of minorities, formal experimentation and music (with notably Anja Kaiser, researcher, graphic designer and activist, on the potential of co-conception in solidarity with design, and Fabrice Bourlez, invited here to extend his thesis on the Freudian inability to imagine the family other than through heteronormativity).
About Chaumont and its festival, with modesty, Vanina Pinter wrote this: “The graphic religion has remained in solid, legitimate hands, the hands of power transitions.
To act outside of these transfers of power, of a cooptation of use, is to take the risk of a possible delegitimization. Acting at the edge, taking another point of observation, is therefore not without risk – in a territorial logic – but must be an absolute in a global context. When at the second edition of the International Graphic Design Biennial in 2019, we dealt with invisibilization with Silvia Baum, Claudia Scheer and Lea Sievertsen [Not a Muse], [Not a Muse]with the post-colonial question with Jonathan Castro, the transformations of capital, the repercussion on the economy of a discipline with Tereza Ruller [The Rodina], [The Rodina]the commitment with Teresa Sdralevich, we have found more allies than amateurs of a ” Male Tears Bingo“.
By opening this first periodical publication and titling it “A feminist Issue” around the figure of Anja Kaiser, the idea is to deal with graphic design from a feminist, collaborative and co-construction perspective. This perspective was joined by Anna Jehle, Juliane Schickedanz, Fabrice Bourlez and Loraine Furter. The title of this volume implies another, such as ” An Other Feminist Issue” succeeding ” Another Feminist Issue“, so many voices are present, and require attention and precision. The Signe Design [LSD], designed by officeabc, – periodical of a platform of production, dissemination, support for creation, dialogue and mediation between the artistic field of graphic design and the public that is the National Center of Graphic Design -, is less an object of communication than a field of study invested.
