Mind Over Matter

Mind Over Matter – Femxphotographers.org’s second publication, Mind Over Matter , looks inward. Women’s bodies are often sexualized while their minds are vilified and their voices silenced. This is historical and visible in various cultures around the world. Mind Over Matter is a book about the female vision. It is about the power of the mind, as well as dreams and fantasies, logic and intuition. It is an exploration of inner strength, courage, determination, will and support in complex and individualistic series. Edited by Roula Seikaly and with contributions from core team photographers as well as numerous guest artists and authors, the publication has the character of an illustrated reader.

FEMXPHOTOGRAPHERS.ORG is an independent, non-hierarchical collective of international women photographers who unmask and deconstruct the dominant male gaze in photography. Femxphotographers.org shapes contemporary discourse by publishing thematic publications, organizing exhibitions and panels, and providing a solidarity network for women photographers.
