Now and Then – Now and Then – Sarah Moon (born 1941) grew up in England and France. After working as a model in Paris for a few years, she began shooting in 1968.
Her first campaign photos for Cacharel (with Robert Delpire) were followed by countless commercial works for Dior, Chanel, Comme des Garçons and Christian Lacroix. In addition, Moon has photographed fashion editorials for magazines, shot short films and documentaries, and the feature film Mississippi One. She was the first woman to shoot for the famous Pirelli calendar. Her recent work includes photographs and a short film for Dior homme.
Looking at Moon’s often blurry black and whites or her pale colored photographs – often shot on Polaroid film – one is drawn into a realm of dreams, myths and fears. Simultaneously, his works allude to celestial ideals, unknown landscapes and enchanted cities. His portraits of girls and women, especially his fashion images, seem to give a glimpse of timelessness.
