Self Portrait as 47 Pickles – The pickle is a recurring figure in the work of Erwin Wurm. In 2008, he created an installation entitled Selbstportät all Gurken (Self Portrait as 47 Pickles), in which he placed all the pickles from the contents of a jar, replicated in painted resin, on their pedestals. Each condiment was then photographed with the same shooting protocol. The artist’s book Self-Portrait as 47 Pickles brings together this series.
