The abundance of visual material contained in this book, co-published with the Lafuente Archive, bears witness to the transformation of Barbara Allende into Ouka Leele, a nickname adopted by the artist in the 1980s, when she became a pillar of Spanish photography in the 20th century. This important set of preparatory drawings, comics, notebooks and sketches, her black & white and color photos evolve from the first attempts in the family environment to elaborate stagings, up to her famous series called Hairdressing. This monograph presents the full range of Ouka Leele’s work, like a constellation from which her character draws its roots.
