The Papercut Art of Masayo Fukuda

The Papercut Art of Masayo Fukuda – Le Kirie is the Japanese art of paper cutting, and Masayo Fukuda is a true master of this technique. She made her first forays into this art form while still in high school, and for nearly 30 years she has been immersed in creating works of extreme delicacy and detail. Her motifs are often inspired by the natural world, where she depicts amazing sea creatures such as jellyfish, cephalopods and various deep-sea fish, or land dwellers such as peacocks, cassowaries, chameleons, gecko’s and various butterflies and other insects. His more recent works are larger and incorporate elements of traditional Japanese art and contemporary Western art, with floral and new art motifs.
