Tokyo Blues brings together a substantial amount of his work that sees him working in the style of gekiga, literally “dramatic drawings”, designed in a manga style reserved for adult audiences, not without humor and European comics. He explains himself at length in a text that closes the volume as well as in an interview with the translator Leopold Dahan, made for the occasion.
Collection of 14 short stories, in which Tokushige Kawakatsu experiments a gekiga style, crossed with European comics. Mixing realism, derision, poetry and multiple references, he uses manga as a means of personal expression, to represent the city of Tokyo and the most elusive sensations of everyday life.
