Takashi Homma documents in this book the blood trails of deer killed between 2009 and 2018 in Shiretoko National Park on the Japanese island of Hokkaido. Considered by some to be sacred, Japan’s deer have faced controversial reform due to their population growth, with a disastrous impact on local farming communities. To reduce the numbers, the government is encouraging local hunters to take matters into their own hands. In this book Takashi Homma photographs the effects of this policy and the red remnants of this wildlife.
