Trou(v)ées – “For a long time, I have been collecting images. And it doesn’t matter to me that I didn’t take the shot myself, that I didn’t choose the framing, the composition, the “decisive moment”… Someone else has already done it ! What I choose is an image for what it evokes in me; I like to observe the photographs that are offered to my eyes. It is often the ellipsis that interests me, the faces that slip away, the traces of experience on the printed paper, the silver salts that make the blacks vibrate… a frozen present moment on which time has done its work. This materiality moves me, it is like a warning. The photograph is a time capsule, it is a journey: yesterday, today … the times are mixed … it plays with our perception of time. By intervening on an old photograph, we allow the past to resurface in the present. Fascinated by this game of anachronism, I like to observe the images as much as to deconstruct them: to hollow out, to embroider, to highlight, to play with the light, the blurs, the holes.
