Unica Zürn

This catalogue has been published with the support of the Antoine de Galbert Foundation on the occasion of the Unica Zürn exhibition at the Musée d’art et d’histoire de l’hôpital Sainte-Anne from 31 January to 31 May 2020.

Unica Zürn (1916-1970) is a 20th century artist and an exceptional woman. The ambition of this book is to give a full place as an artist to a woman whose fate, often described as tragic, took precedence over her creation.
Despite a body of work that is now widely dispersed in numerous collections, nearly seventy drawings and engravings are collected here, most of which were produced during her stay at the Hôpital Sainte-Anne in the early 1960s. Archival documents and photographs provide a better understanding of her work as a draughtswoman, painter and writer.
