2280 compiles a collection of famous comic book covers
deconstructed and reconstructed by hand (with felt-tip pen) using an algorithm
singular developed by the author. 150 years ago, modern art was
applied to undermining the figure, by means of schematization, geometrization,
from deconstruction to its obliteration (impressionism, cubism,
suprematism…) Since then, artists have played on this tension between abstraction and
a figure that has continued to reappear ever since. The kaleidoscopic result of the
"2280" is a new type of tension: the figure is almost absent, not
not invisible, because it is entirely there, some would say subliminal.
If we move away, the motif is sometimes revealed. The figure is rendered absent but

drawn. The figuration-abstraction tension is therefore played out exclusively in
the viewer's head, between the shattered shapes that his eye perceives and its
memories. The atomization of this image, a priori unique (most of the
book covers show only one image), its geometric dissolution
in a grid refers to this other grid, the one that operates within the
comic strip boards.
