\nIn three volumes, this publication brings together in 318 images Martin Stöbich’s photographic explorations of three seemingly unrelated and arbitrary locations around the world. From Beirut to Dubai (where he made an extended, unplanned stay after authorities deemed him a “threat to national security”), Stöbich used his handheld Leica camera as a tool to capture visual and sometimes cultural particularities. While the artist includes a quasi-series of shots documenting local variations of taxis in the Tokyo volume, the connections between the images are not always so obvious. According to Stöbich, the book’s sequence emerged during his filming and travels.
