Lebanese Nadia Tuéni, Beirut has managed to recover after the civil war
before plunging back into tragedy with the explosion of its port in
2020. Bringing together images taken by Randa Mirza over more than 20 years,
Beirutopia is a powerful visual essay on socio-political transformation
and urban of the Lebanese capital, which appears as premonitory of
the current collapse of the country. Enriched by the texts of writers,
essayists, geographers and art critics, seven series of images,
exploiting various techniques and formats, narrate the abrupt changes as well
that the cycles of destruction and reconstruction that are bogging Lebanon down
uncertainty and the loss of utopias.
