Urgent Need: Chorale for Black Women's Voices (1979) is the last poem by
the Contrechant anthology, collected by the author shortly before her death. In this
powerful text, she resurrects the voices of dead black women in
indifference and rehabilitates their memory in a masterly way. For

by Audre Lorde and many authors straddling the West and the South.
