Beyond Borders - In Beyond Borders, artist Isabel Miquel Arqués enters into dialogue with Karen Blixen (1885-1962), the Danish author who wrote under the pseudonym Isak Dinesen and whose best-known books, Out of Africa and Babette's Feast, were adapted for film. Arqués uses stunning photographs, screen prints, and striking fragments of prose and poetry to connect her own life with Blixen's.

\nShe visited Rungstedlund, the author's former home, now a museum, several times, where she photographed objects that Blixen used on a daily basis. These objects triggered a parallel and very personal story in Arqués' imagination, which gradually became intertwined with that of Karen Blixen herself. Beyond Borders is the visual translation of the impressions that Arqués collected in Blixen's home, in her everyday environment, in her novels and in her biography, which gave rise to new poetic images.
