Bobby Sands, Belfast May 1981
Bobby Sands died on May 5, 1981 at 1:17 a.m. Bobby Sands is arrested
and sentenced to 14 years in prison for possession of firearms. He begins on the 1st
March 1981 a hunger strike followed by nine other political prisoners
IRA members. Their demands: to obtain prisoner status
policies to which they are entitled. They will all die, in almost complete indifference
general. These episodes which could evoke an “ancient history”
unfortunately join the closest current event, Catalonia, today,
demands its independence like other states and citizens of Europe, tired of
see their identity diluted in “globalization”. The conflict between
Catholics and Protestants, supporters of independence and of remaining in
The crown is a reminder of Britain's past history and division
current between supporters and opponents of Brexit.
