  • "Creating a book is similar to creating a film. The film, as a medium, synthesizes all my other practices into a single visual experience continues. In the same way, the book unfolds like a film, offering a fragmented but coherent experience, where each page turns like a new sequence." Marilou Poncin Bodies of Work is the first work dedicated to the work of French visual artist Marilou Poncin, both videographer, photographer, painter and ceramist. He offers a retrospective of more than eight years of artistic production, where the artist exhibits his research on the representation and allegory of the female body, the artificiality of images or the inorganic body as a vector of sentimentality in the era of digital. Marilou Poncin also offers us a reading of the relationships between humans and non-anthropomorphic technological objects in a speculative narrative, subject of his latest video installation Liquid Love is Full of Ghosts, presented in Arles during the Rencontres de la Photographie in the selection for the Prize Discovery 2024 Louis Roederer Foundation. The book also reveals part of the the artist's creative process: from collecting images to sketches and storytelling- boards from his personal archives. Without being exhaustive, Bodies of Work wishes to cover all the structuring themes of the practice of Marilou Poncin to question us on these social issues, enriched by the critical contributions from curators Flora Fettah and Élora Weill-Engerer.
