The new book Büro Destruct 4 presents not only the best of the projects completed in the last 12 years, but also the intermediate steps, rejections, experiments and inspiration of the internationally renowned Bernese design studio Büro Destruct. In contrast to the strict and somewhat restrained Swiss Style of the 1960s, Büro Destruct stands for design without handbrakes. Apparently, anything is possible. The design can be humorous, strong, colourful and in the spirit of the times. At the same time, minimalism, precision and craftsmanship are present in all their work. The layout of Büro Destruct 4 presents several works in detail - in progress and finished. The question of which of the presented variants was realized remains open. Although the illustrations are only minimally explained, this principle allows a particularly intensive look over the shoulder and reveals a lot about the working methods of Büro Destruct. Their vector-heavy graphics have always adhered to the principle of "think global, act local". Often going against the grain of public design: they were among the few to ignore the temporary but intense flirtation of Swiss graphics with emerging neo-conservatism.
