BUTLIN'S HOLIDAY CAMP 1982
BUTLIN'S HOLIDAY CAMP 1982
These vibrant photographs capture the unique and somewhat
tragicomic tale of the most famous of all British package holidays: the
Butlin's "jolliday". Lewis, who worked at Butlin's in the 1960s, is
returned to Skegness camp in 1982 when the original vision began to
fade away. Billy Butlin created his holiday attraction in the 1930s,
when British workers first won
paid holidays and families were attracted by the promise of chalets
individual rooms, a theater and a swimming pool.
