Cascade
Cascade
What do Galileo, Robert Bresson, Ettore Sottsass, saint
Francis of Assisi and Robert Walser? Nothing a priori, except to find each other again
summoned by Fabio Viscogliosi in his latest work, Cascade. Reflections
metaphysical, fragments of memories, references to cinema and literature
are mixed together in this colorful album book. The 103 plates in the volume
are so many attempts to stop time by isolating an idea, a
memory or a feeling and function as variations grouped under
the same colorful atmosphere. Fabio plays with shapes in bold colors and
with well-defined contours to build playful visuals on the edge of
abstraction. A work that evokes his works in acrylic paint. He puts
also on stage the famous donkey, paper alter-ego and recurring character of
his graphic universe – a figure that can also be found on the covers of
his albums, because Fabio is also a musician. Both a book of notes and
memories, Cascade attacks the joyful chaos of thought in an attempt to
put into shape(s). This is Fabio Viscogliosi's third published work
by the Association.
