Corrections - Sigurdur Arni Sigurdsson combines a found image with a graphic intervention, more or less significant: these are his Corrections , true extensions of the image which has already had a first life. \n \nYou don't joke about the geometry of the sun. Everyone knows that, and Sigurdur Arni Sigurdsson more than anyone. \n \nMoreover, his painting at first sight does not seem to be joking: we have known for twenty years that we have seen him in France this economy of painting made of flat areas often monochrome, of decided figures (often circles), sometimes in reserve of color and then showing the bare canvas; but also of landscapes which, in their simplification, seem to belong to a world of artifice, of an ideality of toy or model, of that which would inhabit a great developer dreaming of simplifying the world, of smoothing the disorders and irregularities of nature, in favor of full and consistent forms. \n \nOn the other side of the work on canvas, or on paper, or even of the realization of projects in public spaces which often - as with the one he produced at home in Iceland, or with this very recent public commission, L'éloge de la nature in Loupian, near Montpellier, play with the light of the stars - there is a work that we had hardly seen until then, which could have remained a sort of studio relaxation and remained secret: these are the Corrections that the artist is showing today.
