Short autobiography / Lea Tanttaaria + Great-God-Father-Nieces (+ CD)
A major figure in art brut, Adolf Wölfli (1864-1930) was interned in 1895 in
the Waldau lunatic asylum. That same year, 1895, he wrote his Short
autobiography, prelude to the 25,000 pages of drawings, writings and collages which
will compose his graphic work.
Reputed to be indecipherable, his "graphic scores" are nonetheless
inspired two beautiful pieces in Nurse With Wound (Steven Stapleton, Diana Rogerson
and David Tibet), Lea Tanttaaria and Great-God-Father-Nieces. Published in 1986 on
the 33 rpm Necropolis, Amphibians & Reptiles (Musique Brute), these two pieces
can be found on the CD that accompanies this book.
“Friends near and far, if there is anyone among you without sin,
If he comes to me, I will beg him to grant me grace and forgiveness."
