Sam Contis was invited by MoMA curator Sarah Meister to contribute to
the major retrospective of Lange's work at MoMA in February 2020. The
The result is this artist's book, which will be exhibited at the MoMA exhibition. Contis
realizes a lyrical reinterpretation of an artist often presented as a
traditional documentary photographer and interested in formal relationships
between the shots including unpublished images from Lange's early years in
California.
