ON THE DUCTILITY OF SBRINZ
ON THE DUCTILITY OF SBRINZ
Ibn Al Rabin is often classified as a "minimalist" designer,
but he is nevertheless a lover of "maximalist" projects, as evidenced by
his bibliography: a 1100-page book in dictionary format? Done. A
adaptation of the best of the Bible to felt-tip pens? Also. Four hundred
strips drawn for almost ten years? Well, that's exactly what
collects "On the ductility of sbrinz", namely the entirety of the strips
produced weekly for the independent newspaper Le Courrier. We come across
Bob & Mitch, really bad contemporary artists, Clotilde, clumsy dancer
but applied, Raymond, alcoholic cultural columnist, Amande & Béa,
questionable gallery owners, Mildred, queen of abstruse stand-up, and yet another
multitude of characters appearing in intertwined stories and
take us into micro-sagas where the wacky and the absurd reign. It is
of course very funny, often surprising and always inventive. And then he
there is the sbrinz.
