Since when do we bend over to read a label next to a work of art? Not for a long time. It was not until the middle of the 20th century that it began to flourish the walls of museums these small rectangles of Bristol. But the use of this label that can only be read by leaning towards it, in a gesture that seems imbued with deference, is far from being anecdotal or devoid of effects as to how we approach works of art.
