Through interviews, portfolios, theoretical or fictional texts, the journal
questions, in a double movement of immersion and critical distance, this
common part of humanity – which is at once that of the people, of the body, of
the organic, affects, the obscene, and transgression.
On the lookout for its vibrations, DÉCOR makes room for contributions that make
account of the vulgar in both its material and sensitive aspects, taking the
risk of being invaded by its excesses: from “bling bling” gold to yellow
fluorescent signage, from gore to common stench, including
bastard language, the primal web, Vladimir Putin and the French 18th century.
Under the direction of Judith Abensour, Elsa Boyer and Rose Vidal (teachers and
student at the School of Decorative Arts), around sixty contributors
from different fields of theory and literary and artistic creation -
including many students and young talents, reflect and experiment
how the vulgar, object of a judgment tinged with contempt justifying the
social compartmentalization, could be the source of a greater aspiration for
representativeness and sharing.
