  • Contrefeu, a title that borrows from the lexicon of urgency in the face of the events of in recent months. From pension reform to the devastating effects of the war in Israel/Palestine, including the Sainte-Soline demonstration against the mega-basins, or the recent European elections then legislative. National and international news that found an echo solidarity in our 21st century art school, caught between its nature institutional and “seismographic” of the state of the world. Backfire, as a necessity for the editorial board of this journal to adopt a posture that is both critical and guarantees the space of a “reverse shot”. rethinking the School of Decorative Arts by bringing together contributions in a “intersectional” perspective articulating feminist, decolonial issues, ecological. Thoughts particularly present in art schools, even to open breaches "from which to resist, criticize, resume hope, not resignation.” Contributions, as for other issues of the Décor magazine, are balanced between those of students, teachers, and School staff Decorative Arts, and external contributions. The whole articulates closely critical thinking, activist engagement, arts and pedagogy, through a plurality of formats, speech, writing and reading tracks. There thus finds articles like that of the researcher Myriam Bahaffou, interviews, such as with visual artist Yazan Khalili, a musical selection of Faïza Lellou, a proposal for (de)circumventions of indexing and the classification of library catalogs, by Laurine Arnould, head of documentary center of the school and students Romane Guet-Frapard and Kenza Ka, a letter, that of Victor Andrea González addressed to the writer Faïza Guène, a poem by the writer Evelyne Trouillot in dialogue with the works of Gaëlle Choisne, productions by young artists who graduated from the school – Jeanne Guillet, Juliette Oudot & Agathe Charrel, Yasmina Shahin… – and those of artists internationals like Suzanne Husky or Alejandra Riera. To give shape to this plurality of voices, the graphic design was entrusted to the Officeabc studio, who made a proposal in dialogue with the practical and radical scope of the contributions. They proposed a device of reading images freeing them from texts and vice versa. Navigation in the review is made from an iconographic sequence produced from of all contributions. Readers can thus operate readings starting from images, or from text, and moving from one to the other. A hybrid object, between newspaper, manual, vademecum, tract and manifesto.
